According to Harvard University, the average American will live to be 76, meaning you only really have 3,952 weeks in your life. But where ever you’re at in life you have to subtract some weeks from your life. For context, I am 17 and I have already used up 22% of my weeks. It definitely can feel like a punch to the gut.
Every week is precious and we only have so long in our lives to accomplish all our dreams which is why you can’t just scribble a few things down on a piece of paper during New Years and expect everything to work out. Setting goals every week has dramatically improved my focus and I know it will do the same for you. Below is your life in weeks to help visualize (thanks Tim Urban):

Top 5
Here is what I have learned and why you should too:
- You actually get stuff done: When you set goals for yourself, even if they are miscellaneous, you will get it done (if you hold yourself accountable).
- Confidence/Motivation: I have noticed that the more goals I accomplish big or small, my hunger to achieve more goals grows (Just ask my guy Tony Robbins).
- Satisfying: I don’t know about you but its satisfying to cross it out after you finish.
- Discipline: When you hold yourself to standards to reach goals you start to grow in discipline. This just helps in all other aspects of life.
- : Time Management: Having goals will allow you to complete what you want while still being able to enjoy life stress free.

IMPACT FINANCIALLY
Setting your budget for the week is one way of setting a goal. Not overspending on frivolous things like that “cute thing at target” will keep you on track and stress free.
Then if at the end of the week you meet your financial goal, by all means spend the money on something extra! But for the love of God don’t go to Target or shop on Amazon if you know you’re going to not be able to cross off that financial goal for the week.
CHALLANGE
This week I challenge you to sit down and write down a list of goals you want to achieve by the end of the week. After every goal completed cross it out. By the end of the week you should have it all crossed out.
